Russo-Ukraine War Assessment: Week of 4 April to 10 April

Here is the latest ISW report for 10 April.

The Russian’s are desperate. They are losing. They are digging themselves in a deeper hole. They are now beginning draconian conscription measures to through more bodies away.

For forces withdrawn from the North and Northeast of Ukraine, the Russian Army is offering nice cash incentives for destroying Ukrainian fixed wing aircraft, helicopters and tanks. That said, Russian soldiers have no problem killing civilians for free (see below).

Ukrainian forces have all but recaptured the territory lost in the North and Northeast and are now mounting a counter attack in Kershon. UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, toured Kyiv this week with President Zelenskyy.

However, the stout Ukrainian defense in Mariupol is now collapsing as Russian forces have driven wedges in between the remaining resistance. This is an important victory for Russia because it allows them to establish a continuous strip of land between the Russian border to Crimea.
